By Heidi Eljarbo
I really loved The Relic Keeper by Heidi Eljarbo. It tells the story of Angelo, a young orphan who survives by stealing relics for Tozzo, a vile man who made my skin crawl. I could feel just how hard and lonely Angelo's world was, yet there was this quiet sense that things didn’t have to stay that way. Watching him spend time with Padre Benedetto, I could see small moments slowly start to change him, and I found myself rooting for him the whole way.
I also loved the addition of Gerrit van Honthorst’s studio and following the progress of Adoration of the Christ Child. I was just as in awe of it as Angelo!
This is definitely a five-star read for me, and I think anyone who enjoys historical fiction will really enjoy this book.
